  • Practical steps individuals and communities can take to protect children
  • The importance of early intervention and community collaboration

Together, we can create a world where every child is safe, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive.

Speaker:
Susan Molitor, LCPA
Casa de Esperanza de los Ninos, Inc.

Susan, like many people who now live in Houston is a transplant. After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree, double majoring in English and Spanish, Susan decided to spend 9 months volunteering in Houston before returning to her home state of Minnesota with a plan to apply to graduate schools. That decision to volunteer changed the trajectory of her career path. The children she met as a volunteer foster parent made her rethink her priorities, and her original 9-month commitment eventually stretched into three years. Since that pivotal volunteer experience, Susan has spent the past 30 years working in the child welfare space in the Houston area, serving children and families who have experienced abuse, neglect, and trauma, in a variety of capacities. She has recruited, trained, and supervised hundreds of volunteers, foster parents and caregivers, including specializing in the recruitment and training of families to care for children with HIV/AIDS in the 1990's and early 2000's. Susan has previously served as the Director of Residential Programs and Personnel for Casa de Esperanza de los Ninos, (The House of Hope for Children) and currently serves as the Licensed Child Placing Administrator for the agency as well as being the Director of Outreach and Compliance.
