Board President
Texas Heatstroke Task Force
Johnny Humphreys is in his 27th year serving as a child passenger safety (CPS) instructor. For 15 years he traveled throughout Texas conducting child safety seat training workshops, child seat technician certification courses, and child seat checkup events for the Dept. of State Health Services Safe Riders. He was selected by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to serve on three state CPS assessment teams, conducting assessments for the states of Missouri, Utah, and California, serving as team lead for two of them. Upon retirement, he and CPS colleagues developed the Texas Heatstroke Task Force, a grassroots educational network aimed at preventing pediatric vehicular heatstroke tragedies in Texas. He led the program's formation to become a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and obtained state-funding for it beginning in 2018. Johnny led the program as its chair for 11 years. He now serves as volunteer Board President for the THTF.
