Join TFFA for an engaging 5-week book study of The Connected Child: Bring Hope and Healing to Your Adoptive Family by Karyn B. Purvis.

TFFA is bringing this book study to you via webinar! As a special benefit, the book is FREE to participants who register on our website, attend at least 1 book study session and complete the order form using the button below by October 8, 2026. If you register after October 8, you are still welcome to participate; however, you will need to purchase your own copy of the book.

There is a $10 deposit to cover the cost of the book in case you do not attend any sessions.  This will be refunded after you have attended at least 1 session of the book study. 

You must be registered for this book study to receive a book from TFFA. Please register prior to requesting your book. 

Sessions will be held via Zoom according to the schedule posted here. The Zoom link for each book study session will be sent to you with your registration confirmation.

A certificate documenting your completed hours will be emailed to you based on your attendance.

Frank Lopez, LCSW-S, LCPAA

Frank Lopez has served as the Training & Education Chair for the Texas Foster Family Association (TFFA) for several years, where he coordinates TFFA's Annual Conference and helps develop ongoing training and educational opportunities for foster, adoptive, and kinship families across Texas. As a member of the TFFA Board, Frank works alongside fellow board members to advance the association's mission and strengthen the knowledge, skills, and support available to families caring for children and youth.

Professionally, Frank is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor and Licensed Child-Placing Agency Administrator with extensive experience in child welfare, foster care and adoption, mental health, and family support services. Throughout his career, he has worked with children, youth, caregivers, and child welfare professionals, with a particular emphasis on trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches to supporting children who have experienced abuse, neglect, loss, and disruptions in attachment.

A significant focus of Frank's work has been incorporating Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) principles into foster care practice and helping caregivers and professionals translate the principles of connection, empowerment, and correction into practical strategies for supporting children and youth.

Frank currently serves as the Integrated Services & Support Director for Upbring, providing leadership across several programs, including Adoption Services, Supervised Independent Living, Vector Point, Community Services, and special projects. His experience at Upbring has included a variety of leadership roles and work supporting children, families, and the professionals who serve them.

As facilitator of TFFA's The Connected Child Book Club, Frank hopes to create an engaging space where foster, adoptive, and kinship families can explore the book's concepts, share their own experiences, and consider how principles of connection, trust, attachment, and trauma-responsive caregiving can be applied in everyday family life.
